ENJOY walking tours of London with a born and bred local!

Regular weekly walking tours are undertaken by me during the summer months, rotating the walking tours listed under ''specialist areas'' below.   Pre-booking essential and, normally, a minimum of 5 people applies for walking tours.

My specialist areas in London are:

  • Royal London – watch the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace – see Buckingham Palace, St James’ Palace, Clarence House, Pall Mall and Palace of Westminster;

  • Royal Hospital Chelsea (home to the Chelsea Pensioners)

  • Dickens’ London – Inns of Court, Dickens’ House Museum, Old Curiosity Shop, Prince Henry’s Room, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Public House.  Experience Oliver Twist’s mean streets, enter the house where Charles Dickens once lived

  • Spitalfields (Jack the Ripper) – visit Spitalfields and, as well as passing 4 of the sites where Jack the Ripper carried out his infamous murders, see former Huguenot silk weavers’ houses, former Huguenot Chapels which became Jewish synagogues and then mosques, the famous Ten Bells Pub and Nicholas Hawksmoor’s famous Christ Church.

  • Clerkenwell – See the Clerk’s Well, visit St John’s Gate and the Grand Priory Church of the Knight’s Hospitallers founded in 1140, see Charterhouse and where Agatha Cristie’s ‘’Hercule Poirot’’ lived in London, not to mention the memorial to ‘’Braveheart’’ (William Wallace).

  • City of London - the Square Mile, Bank of England, Royal Exchange, Christopher Wren’s magnificent churches, St Paul’s Cathedral, Guildhall, to list but a few;

  • St Pancras – visit the beautifully restored St Pancras International Station from where Eurostar trains depart for Paris and Brussels, marvel at the former Midland Grand Hotel, which closed its doors in 1935 and reopened as a totally refurbished hotel in May 2010*, stand by the ‘’Hardy Tree’’ in the former St Pancras Cemetery and walk in the quaint St Pancras Church. This tour is a ‘’must’’ for all railway enthusiasts!  * Separate tours of the hotel's interior are run by the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel management but an idea of the scale of the refurbishment can be gathered from this walk.
