About your Guide

A qualified City of London and Clerkenwell and Islington Tour Guide for over 13 years, I grew up in central London so am therefore more likely than many others in this field to be able to show you a London which you will not see either on a "Hop-on/hop-off bus tour" or other type of walking tour.

I am generally well-travelled and know the types of walking tours I myself like to participate in when I am abroad or in a place with which I am not familiar in the United Kingdom.  I do not like to bombard walkers with a list of dates when certain buildings were erected or events occurred.  My style is factual and interesting, with humorous anecdotes given where appropriate.  For a "flavour" of what past walkers have thought of my walking tours, please go to my Testimonials page.

Since retirement from full-time employment as a Personal Assistant in 2006, I have spent six months of the year in London and six months of the year in Wellington, New Zealand where my only family members live.  Having lived and worked in Wellington in my late 20s for a number of years and returned at regular intervals since, I also know this capital very well indeed and now take visitors on regular walks.

Regular walks in London are around two hours in duration and in Wellington are usually just over three hours in duration and participants don’t have to be a "mountain goat" or professional walker to come along. The pace is set by the slowest walker in the group and since tourists are keen to know the history and background of the places visited, stops are made along the way to point out places of interest, quirky buildings, sculptures, churches, etc.

In addition to the standard tours, I also conduct walking tours tailored to suit individuals or groups with special interests.
